Beach Weddings in San Diego

La Jolla Shores Beach

With gorgeous sunsets and a soundtrack of gentle, rolling waves, La Jolla Shores Beach is one of the most romantic beaches for a wedding. There’s plenty of space, and sunshine is virtually guaranteed.

Permits are issued by the City of San Diego.

 

Ellen Browning Scripps Park

This park boasts such spectacular views of the Pacific, it’s said to be the most photographed location in San Diego. It has a spacious lawn overlooking the ocean for ceremonies, and when the tide is out, there are three sandy beaches that are perfect for photographs.

 Permits are available from the City of San Diego for up to 50 people (June - August) or up to 80 people (September - May).

 

Cuvier Park

Also known as The Wedding Bowl, Cuvier Park is one of the most sought-after wedding venues in San Diego. You will know exactly why after a glimpse of the romantic cliffside location with its grassy ceremony area and jaw-dropping views of the Pacific. The park is about five steps below street level, which fosters a sense of intimacy for your gathering.

The City of San Diego issues permits for ceremonies up to 40 guests. This location is extremely popular, so submit your application as early as possible.

 

Calumet Park

Calumet Park is a peaceful cliffside park in the tranquil residential neighborhood of Bird Rock. It’s perfect for couples envisioning a quiet ceremony with exceptional ocean views from an elevated vantage point.

Permits for up to 80 people are available from the City of San Diego.

 

Mission Beach 

The soft sand and sparkling waves of Mission Beach make it a popular location for all beach activities, especially weddings. It’s great for barefoot ceremonies, and the vibrant blue water and ethereal white sand are highly photogenic.

Permits are issued by the City of San Diego.

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

This massive nature park offers numerous options for outdoor ceremonies. You can say, “I do” on the rocky outcroppings overlooking the ocean, or at low tide enjoy a ceremony right on the beach with cliffs in the background. Atop the bluffs, the golden hour just before sunset is particularly magical.

The park has three special locations for weddings, each of which can be permitted for up to 50 people.

 

Beach Weddings in Coronado 

Centennial Park Coronado

Centennial Park and Beach are located on the bay side of Coronado and boast magnificent views of the San Diego skyline. You can say your vows in a grassy park with the city in the background, or sink your toes in the sand with a barefoot ceremony right on the beach. After the wedding, festivities can continue just a short walk away at Coronado Ferry Landing’s entertaining marketplace.

For groups of 25 or more, or if decorations/chairs/equipment are used, a permit is required from the City of Coronado.

 

Coronado Tidelands Park 

Also on the bay side of Coronado, Tidelands Park features an abundance of wide-open space and a variety of scenic backdrops for your special day, including giant palm trees, luscious greenery, and the Coronado Bridge.

Capacity of the park is 3,000 people, and there are plenty of public amenities nearby, so it’s possible to hold your reception here as well.

Permits are available from the San Diego Port for up to 3,000 people between 6am and 10:30pm.

 

Coronado Beach

Our charming little island is famous nationwide for having the best beach in the country. With over a mile of golden sand, sparkling surf, and seemingly endless sunshine, Coronado is perfect for beachside nuptials.

Coronado Beach offers exceptional views of the Pacific Ocean, sailboats, and Point Loma. The central portion also features the historic Hotel Del Mar—a unique location for wedding photos.

Sunsets are particularly dazzling on Coronado Beach, so time your ceremony to take advantage of the golden glow.
